Florence is a neurobiologist by training, with stem cell biology expertise. Originally from France, she received her PhD in neuroscience from the University of Miami (2008), where she studied molecular mechanisms of neuroprotection. She later pursued her research at Columbia and NYU Medical Centers, working on modeling schizophrenia through somatic cell reprogramming and understanding mechanisms of dysmyelination occurring in multiple sclerosis. Florence is an avid science writer, and scientific editor for a peer-reviewed article collection on science diplomacy. She is passionate about leveraging the power of international scientific collaborations and science diasporas, as a way to advance science, improve foreign relations, and promote global development.
