Neural tissue microstructure (NTMS) has a special geometry, with cells and gaps of various sizes and shapes. NTMS contains a highly dynamic chemical structure including the cytosol and the extracellular matrix.
Using world-first technologies in functional geometric modeling and super-resolution microscopy, we extract accurate information about brain tissue microstructure, in health and disease, mostly from diffusion-weighted MRI data.
NTMS data can be used for very early, pre-symptomatic diagnosis of neurodegenerative disorders (e.g. Alzheimer's disease), with exact spatial localization of pathology.
NTMS maps can also be used as superior surrogates for brain slices in novel drug development and testing, for example in convection-enhanced drug delivery.
